With days getting longer and temperatures on the rise, nothing hits quite like a beautifully crafted iced latte. Smooth, refreshing, and endlessly customisable, but let’s be honest… the standard milk-and-espresso combo can start to feel a little predictable. This summer, it’s time to take your iced latte game to the next level.
Great coffee deserves a little creativity. Here’s how you can elevate your iced lattes from simple to spectacular.
1. Start with Better Coffee
Every great iced latte should begin with high-quality coffee beans. Because ice is going to naturally dilute your drink, using a rich, well-balanced espresso is key. Look for beans with a strong roast profile that will hold up best over ice. A coffee with naturally sweet and chocolatey notes should pair well with a variety of flavours. (I'd personally recommend our Honduras Rich Organic!)
Pro tip: Brew your espresso slightly stronger than usual to maintain its character as the ice melts.
2. Experiment with Flavours
An iced latte is the perfect vehicle for infusing additional flavours. Flavoured syrups and simple additions can make a big impact. We’d personally recommend incorporating any of the following:
- Add a pump of vanilla, caramel, or hazelnut syrup
- Try a sprinkle of cinnamon or cocoa powder
- Add a drizzle of honey
3. Try Milk Alternatives

Switching up your milk choices can completely transform your iced latte. Each option brings something distinct, with different textures and flavour profiles:
- Oat milk – creamy and slightly sweet, perfect for a smooth finish
- Almond milk – light and nutty
- Coconut milk – tropical and refreshing
Don’t be afraid to mix and match until you find your perfect combination.
4. Upgrade Your Ice
Here's a couple of different ideas on your approach to adding ice:
- Use coffee infused ice cubes to prevent dilution
- Try coconut water ice cubes for a subtle tropical note
- Add frozen berries for a refreshing twist
These small little upgrades can add another dimension to your latte.
5. Play with Layers and Presentation

We always drink with our eyes first. So why not make it look that little bit more special? Serve it in a clear glass and try layering your drink for a beautiful gradient effect:
- Fill your glass with ice
- Add your milk
- Slowly pour the espresso over top
6. Don’t Forget the Little Things
Sometimes it’s the smallest touches or details that make the biggest difference:
- Chill your glass beforehand
- Use filtered water for cleaner ice
- Stir gently before drinking
Make It Yours
The beauty of an iced latte is in its versatility. Whether you prefer bold and intense or light and refreshing, there’s no one “right” way to enjoy it. This summer, treat your iced latte as a canvas—experiment, refine, and discover your perfect recipe.
And if you’re ever in doubt... just start with exceptional coffee beans (We reckon we know a place you can get them!).
Here’s to cooler days, better coffee, and iced lattes done right.
