5 Easy Iced Coffee Recipes to Make at Home

Squeeze the Last of the Summer with These Iced Coffee Recipes

It's an unusual event that the Irish summer would hang around for long, so as the saying goes... make coffee whilst the sun is shining!

Our team has put together five iced coffee recipes that are super easy to make at home.

1. Simple Iced Coffee

Suggested coffee: McCabe's Organic Blend

The fastest way to a proper iced coffee. No syrups, no shortcuts, just good coffee over ice.

How to make it:

  1. Brew a double espresso, or make a strong cup using your usual method (a stove top or cafetiere works fine).
  2. Let it cool for a few minutes so it doesn't melt the ice straight away.
  3. Fill a tall glass with ice and pour the coffee over.
  4. Top with cold milk to taste, or leave it black.
  5. Add a little sugar or honey while the coffee is still warm if you like it sweet.

2. Cold Brew

Cold brew coffee over ice with coffee beans

Suggested coffee: McCabe's Ethiopia Organic Single Origin

Cold brew takes patience rather than skill. Steeping coffee slowly in cold water gives you a smooth, low-acidity drink, and the Ethiopia Organic's floral, fruity notes come through beautifully when brewed this way. Make a batch on Sunday and it will keep you going all week.

How to make it:

  1. Add 60g of coarsely ground coffee (cafetiere grind) to 500ml of cold water in a jar or cafetiere.
  2. Stir, cover, and leave in the fridge for 12 to 18 hours.
  3. Strain through a cafetiere plunger, sieve, or filter paper.
  4. Serve over ice, diluted with a splash of water or milk to taste.
  5. Keeps in the fridge for up to a week.

3. High Protein Soy Latte

Suggested coffee: Urban Grind

Our pre-workout coffee, made in collaboration with Urban Fitness, was built for exactly this. Shaken in a protein shaker, it comes out cold, frothy, and ready for the gym bag.

How to make it:

  1. Brew a double espresso or a small strong cup of Urban Grind and let it cool slightly.
  2. Add the coffee, 250ml of cold soy milk, and a scoop of your usual vanilla protein powder to a protein shaker.
  3. Add a handful of ice.
  4. Shake hard for 20 to 30 seconds.
  5. Pour into a glass, or drink it straight from the shaker on the way out the door.

4. Dirty Iced Matcha

Suggested coffee: Monsoon Malabar

Half matcha latte, half iced coffee. The espresso is poured over the top so the two layers slowly mix as you drink. It looks impressive but takes about three minutes.

How to make it:

  1. Whisk half a teaspoon of matcha powder with a splash of warm water until smooth.
  2. Fill a glass with ice and add 200ml of cold milk (dairy, soy, or oat all work).
  3. Pour the matcha over the milk.
  4. Brew a single espresso and pour it gently on top.
  5. Give it a stir before drinking, or don't, and enjoy the layers.

5. Affogato

Suggested coffee: Blend 15

Not strictly a drink, but the best way we know to end a summer evening. One scoop of ice cream, one shot of espresso, and that's it. Blend 15's notes of chocolate and toffee were made for this.

How to make it:

  1. Put a scoop of good vanilla ice cream in a small glass or bowl.
  2. Brew a single or double espresso.
  3. Pour the hot espresso straight over the ice cream.
  4. Eat immediately with a spoon, before it all melts. Although honestly, the melted bit is the best part.
