Let’s Talk Taste: Which Bean Belongs in Your Mug?
Charts are great, but let’s cut straight to the chase. If you know how you like your coffee to taste or how you like to brew it, here is your quick cheat sheet to finding your perfect match:
You prefer rich, chocolatey, and nutty notes:
Reach for Brazil or Guatemala. These are our absolute heavyweights when it comes to deep, comforting, comforting cocoa flavors and a rich body.
If you’re chasing vibrant berry and juicy, floral flavors:
Skip straight to Ethiopia or Kenya. They are bright, incredibly complex, and Ethiopia in particular tastes like a beautiful floral bouquet in a cup.
Love a sweet, luscious caramel finish:
Colombia Organic is going to be your new best friend (it’s a total caramel bomb), with Peru Organic and Honduras right up there keeping things beautifully sweet and smooth.
Want a big, heavy-bodied mug with almost zero acidity:
Look no further than Sumatra or India Monsoon Malabar. They are incredibly smooth, earthy, and bold, completely skipping the sharp fruity tang you get with African coffees.
For brewing a traditional espresso or love a milky latte:
You need a bean that can stand its ground. Brazil, Sumatra, Guatemala, and India punch through milk beautifully so your coffee actually tastes like coffee, not warm milk.
For black filter coffee (Pour Over, Chemex, or Aeropress):
Kenya, Ethiopia, and Costa Rica are practically built for this. Filter brewing unlocks all their delicate, crisp, and citrusy complexities that get lost in heavier brew methods.
Just want a smooth, well-balanced crowd-pleaser:
Grab Peru Organic or our Wicklow Organic (Honduras). They are gentle, low-bitterness, middle-of-the-road coffees that are safe, delicious, and guaranteed to put a smile on any guest's face.
